Friends of Upstate: Sandy Ho

This month we are featuring artist, chef and food stylist Sandy Ho. Sandy has inspired us from day one with her use of color in her dumplings, tostadas, ceviches and more. We were lucky enough to have Sandy prepare her signature steak and eggs in our glassware and answer a few questions for us.

Where is home?

Home is wherever I have people I love. Home is also a familiar new place, the reason why I love to travel so much - to be in search of this feeling.

Do you have a morning ritual or rituals throughout your day?

I like my morning showers and skincare routine.

This is really the time I get to set my food for the day before jumping into the kitchen!

What are you listening to?

90s rnb in the car and in the kitchen!

Where do you look for inspiration?

The ocean! I always feel a reset when I’m by the water and it will always be a source of inspiration for my imagination. I also find so much colour inspiration at the farmers market. And of course, fashion and style and expression... I love seeing how someone tells their story on their body.

What’s for dinner?

Crispy fried fish, mums curry and rice with lots of pickles on the side!

Where do you create?

Late at night in my bed when I cant sleep! And in my kitchen and really any kitchen, always :)

Can you tell us what your favorite Upstate item is and why?

BANDA dickies!!! And really alll of the dinnerware. I love the colour and swirl it brings to my life!
